Sponsored for the fourth year running by the SNCF, the «Discovery» seminar took place in Paris from Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 March.
The aim of the seminar was to give young adults in post-baccalaureate vocational training the opportunity to find out about the world of defence and the SNCF's security-related activities. The seminar brought together 24 students aged between 18 and 24, all from vocational diplomas (BTS, DUT, licences and masters) in the Paris region.
In particular, they were given privileged access to SNCF command posts in Paris, such as the Call Management Centre (CGA), the Operational Traffic Management Centre (COGC) and the National Safety Headquarters (PCNS).
The group was also received in Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne, 51) for a visit to the 1st marine artillery regiment (1er RAMa).
Alongside these activities, the participants were asked to reflect in committee on the concept of public service in the service of the national community. The trainees presented the fruits of their reflection during the closing afternoon at the Ecole Militaire, before the presentation of certificates by Stéphane VOLANT, General Secretary of the SNCF, and Lieutenant General Jean-Marc DUQUESNE, Director of the IHEDN, in the Salon des Maréchaux.
