[Cycle Découverte] A look back at the 2017 edition

the 7th «Discovery» seminar»
took place from Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 March 2017

This seminar gave the 36 participants, all apprentices (BTS, Licences and professional Masters) in the Paris region, in-depth information on our Defence and on security at the SNCF.

After a morning of presentations at the’Military school (Paris 7th arrondissement), the session alternated between visits to the SNCF's security zone management and Paris rive gauche regional operations centre, the Infantry Regiment - Marine Tanks (RICM) Poitiers (86) and the SNCF site at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (94).

The feedback session, at the end of the last day and in the presence of authorities from the SNCF and the’IHEDN, was devoted to the presentation of the work carried out by the trainees over the three days. Divided into three committees, they presented their work in the form of recommendations on the following subjects:

COMMITTEE 1 : Given the current security situation and the resulting state of emergency, can security and individual freedoms be reconciled, and if so, under what conditions?

COMMITTEE 2 : How does the public service contribute to the defence and resilience of the nation today?

COMMITTEE 3 : How can defence and the spirit of defence be promoted in the business world? What recommendations can you make to encourage companies to get involved in promoting the spirit of defence?

They were then received in the Salon des Maréchaux by Stéphane Volant, General Secretary of the SNCF, and Lieutenant General Bernard de Courrèges d'Ustou, Director of the IHEDN, who presented them with their certificates of attendance.

The next session of this seminar will take place in March 2018.
