Organised in partnership with the SNCF,
the 10th edition of the «Discovery» cycle»
took place from Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 March 2023
For three days, the 19 participants, all students in BTS, BUT, bachelor's or master's degrees in the Paris Region, have been offered a in-depth information on our defence and on safety at SNCF.
After a morning of conferences presentation to the’Military school (Paris 7e), the session alternated between visits SNCF command posts and a military unit: Direction de zone sûreté Île-de-France Nord-Est (Paris 10e), 501st Tank Regiment (501st RCC) (Mourmelon-le-Grand, 51) and Plateforme cynophile SNCF (Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, 94).
The end of the last day was devoted to reporting on the work carried out by the two committees during dedicated slots. In the presence of authorities from the SNCF and the’IHEDN, the trainees presented the fruits of their labours. collective reflection on the following issues:
- COMMITTEE 1 : What role can citizens play in crisis management?
- COMMITTEE 2 : Should some form of military service be reintroduced in France? And if so, in what form?
The certificates of participation were then presented to them in the Salon des Maréchaux at the École Militaire by the Lieutenant General Benoît DURIEUX, Director of IHEDN and Higher Military Education (EMS), and Xavier ROCHE, Director of Security for the SNCF Group.
