Organised with the support of the SNCF,
the 8th edition of the «Discovery» cycle»
took place from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 March 2018
For three consecutive days, the 39 participants, all apprentices (BTS, Licences and professional Masters) in the Paris region, were offered in-depth information on our Defence and on security at the SNCF.
After a morning of presentations at the’Military school (Paris 7th arrondissement), the session alternated between visits to the SNCF's security zone management and Paris rive gauche regional operations centre, the 2nd Marine Infantry Regiment Le Mans (72), and the SNCF dog-handling unit at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (94).
The feedback session, at the end of the last day and in the presence of authorities from the SNCF and the’IHEDN, was devoted to the presentation of the work carried out by the trainees over the three days. Divided into three committees, they presented their work in the form of recommendations on the following subjects:
COMMITTEE 1 : How are companies responding to the new cyber threats?
COMMITTEE 2 : Following the announcement by the President of the Republic to introduce a universal national service, what could be the shape of this instrument to enable companies to be at the heart of this scheme?
COMMITTEE 3 : What role can a major public service company play in promoting a spirit of defence?
Certificates of attendance were then presented by Ambassador Ginette de Matha, Deputy Director of the IHEDN, and Stéphane Volant, General Secretary of the SNCF.
The next session of the «Discovery» cycle will take place in March 2019.
