Supported by the patronage of the SNCF, the 6th edition of the «Discovery» seminar took place from Monday 21 to Wednesday 23 March 2016.
This year's event attracted 37 young adults, all on post-baccalaureate vocational training courses at BTS, Licences and professional Masters level in the Paris region.
The seminar provided participants with in-depth information on our defence and on security at SNCF.
After a morning of introductory lectures at the École Militaire (Paris 7), the session alternated between visits to the SNCF General Management crisis room, the Groupement blindé de gendarmerie mobile (GBGM) at Versailles-Satory, and the SNCF site at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.
The final session, at the end of the last day and in the presence of authorities from the SNCF and the IHEDN, was devoted to presenting the ideas developed by the trainees over the three days, which this year focused on the concept of public service and the role of the military reserves.
They were then presented with a certificate of attendance by Stéphane Volant, General Secretary of the SNCF.
