Organised with the support of the SNCF,
the 9th edition of the «Discovery» cycle»
took place from Monday 1 to Wednesday 3 April 2019
For three consecutive days, the 37 participants, all apprentices (BTS, Licences and professional Masters) in the Paris region, were offered in-depth information on our Defence and on security at the SNCF.
After a morning of presentations at the’Military school (Paris 7e), the session alternated between visits to the SNCF site at Bordeaux Saint-Jean (33), the 106 Air Base - «Captain Michel CROCI» in Bordeaux-Mérignac (33), and the SNCF dog-handling unit in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (94).
The feedback session, at the end of the last day and in the presence of authorities from the SNCF and the’IHEDN, was devoted to the presentation of the work carried out by the trainees over the three days. Divided into three committees, they presented their work in the form of recommendations on the following subjects:
COMMITTEE 1 : How can a major public service company foster cohesion around the nation's major challenges?
COMMITTEE 2 : In the context of the forthcoming Universal National Service, how can we promote understanding of the role of a major public service company?
COMMITTEE 3 : What practical responses are companies being called upon to make to the new cyber threats?
Their certificates of attendance were then presented by Lieutenant General Patrick DESTREMAU, Director of the IHEDN and Higher Military Education (EMS), and Franck BERTIN, Director of Operational Excellence at the SNCF's Security Division.
